Cabin of Kenyir Research Station was used for the first time starting on Monday, 24th August 2015; as an operational facility to conduct field work (related to biodiversity) for 17 students at Kenyir Lake. Students are composed of 8 postgraduate students under the supervision of Prof. Dato’ Mohd. Tajuddin bin Abdullah with 4 practical students (industrial training) and 5 final year students in Bachelor of Applied Science (Conservation and Management of Biodiversity).
The access road to the cabin area is still has not been repaired from past floods and only accessible by using four-wheel-drive vehicle. Collaborative activities to clean up the area and toilet of the cabin were carried out after a short briefing session. Student begin field work and research activities after midday. At present, electricity is generated for the cabin with the aid of a generator that has been brought. Water (boring) also has been pumped with the aid of the generator in order to fill both water tanks in the cabin for student use. This field work is expected to end on 29 August 2015.
