Malayan Pangolin Knowledge Survey among Secondary School Students Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Matang

A questionnaire survey among secondary school students was conducted at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Matang, Hulu Terengganu on 18 April 2016 (Monday). The study lasted for 1 hour, starting at 10.30 am and ended at 11.30 am. The questionnaire study consisted of students from form 4 only. The study was conducted by four researchers from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT); Dr. Chong Ju Lian, Saw Wei Ling, Nor Diyana Tajariffin and Muhammad Hafiz Sulaiman.

The survey was conducted as a continuation of previous studies that focused on the villagers or adults. However, to complete the research that has been conducted, it is important to get information about the level of awareness of pangolin among next generation which is a students. The goal of the survey was to get an idea of the extent of their knowledge regarding the pangolin and how high their level of awareness for the conservation of pangolin. This research will be continued in several primary and secondary schools which are selected in the Kenyir Geopark.
